My approach
Create a native, local-first writing room that organises the craft without authoring it.

A distinct macOS product model spanning songs, takes, versions, credits and portable exports.
The decisions
behind the product.
Kordra Music’s AI-assisted workflow did not represent every songwriter’s needs. Professional and traditional writers often wanted structure without generated lyrics or automated creative direction.
Separate the product promise
Kordra Studio is not a non-AI mode inside Kordra Music; its audience, workflow and trust contract are different.
Use software to organise, not author
Guides can count, compare and structure, but they do not rewrite lyrics or make creative choices.
Choose native and local-first
A macOS application supports a focused writing room and keeps core project files under the writer’s control.
Design for handoff from the start
Credits, versions and export formats are part of the product architecture rather than release-day extras.

Capture the room without changing the work
Imported audio, voice sketches and time-based notes remain attached to the local project and its song sections.
Versions that preserve intent
Untouched takes and explicit versions make experimentation reversible and easier to discuss.
Credits stay inside the workflow
Contributors, composition splits and approval records are captured while the session context is still clear.

What came out of it.
Separate native product proposition
Defined Kordra Studio as a dedicated native macOS songwriting workspace, not a non-AI mode inside Kordra Music.
Human-led songwriting boundary
Scoped the product around organisation and deterministic guidance, excluding generated lyrics and automated creative direction.
Defined project model
Established the project, song, version, take, credit and export structure required for a native songwriting workspace.
Mac App Store release
Available on the UK and US Mac App Store under Adam Godsall, bringing the product from concept through native implementation and distribution.
Constraints, lessons and next steps
The constraints
- The product must preserve creative ownership and avoid hidden generative behaviour.
- Native development requires a tighter feature set than a broad cross-platform launch.
- Versioning, credits and exports must remain understandable outside the application.
What I learnt
- Early thinking treated a non-AI workflow as a possible extension of Kordra Music.
- Audience and trust differences led to a separate product, interface and native platform direction.
- The released app continues to evolve through improvements to importing, interaction reliability and portable exports.
- Audience segmentation and a deliberate product split.
- Product judgement that protects trust by excluding the wrong capability.
- Architecture-led discovery across workflow, ownership and handoff.
